I had a serious blast this weekend past at MechaCon in New Orleans.   A big thank you to the owners of the convention, Peter Bares and Jon Russo for allowing me to come out and party with the convention.   I shot over 6000 RAWS that I have been pounding on them daily for at least two hours a day and 8 hours on the weekends to get all the goodness out to the fans.   I have completed the Grand Galloping Gala Formal Ball and I am about to upload the 200+ photos from the cosplay competition.    Next up is Cosplay Chess and then the Charity Auction and THEN I can start releasing cosplay photoshoot sets from the private sessions that I worked with over the weekend.   None of this will happen overnight folks.    I still have photos to release from AnimeFest that happened the weekend before MechaCon.

The way it works is I will release two photos of each person’s photoshoot to tide you over until I can do the entire set.   I edit each set in the order they were shot unless it was a paid photoshoot.  You get to jump to the front of the line then.   I will be working on photos for the next month if not two months to get everything out the door so be patient and don’t be afraid to ask on Facebook when your stuff might be ready.   I will answer ASAP!

For many years I have shot cosplay photography for the cosplay community at conventions around the United States and at private local shoots. I have never charged for them and never will but recently I had to sell off my camera gear to pay off some medical bills from my Hernia surgery and I am in no position to purchase a new set of gear and won’t be for a long time (At least 3 years!) but you can help keep me going with a donation toward a new camera system.

I have had many cosplayers ask what they could do to compensate me for the work I’ve done in the past and I have refused such donations but now is the time for you to step up if you truly want me to continue doing the work I have done for the last 7 years.

Spread the word, toss in the bills. I need $3000 for the complete system. This will buy a new Canon 7D dSLR camera with a 24-70mm 2.8L lens (the one that has worked so hard all these years), a 580 EX II Flashgun with batteries and memory cards for storage and a carrying case to hold it all.

Help me out so I can keep bringing cosplay photography at it’s highest quality to the community. Spread the word here, on DeviantART, where ever you think you can. Help save my most beloved hobby and keep those cosplay photos coming.

You can donate on my Facebook page or on Otakuhigh.com. Just click the Donate button and follow the instructions. Thank you all in advance for your help. I truly and deeply appreciate any help given.

With the completion of MechaCon VI photos, that clears my plate of all 2010 photos and I was able to go back through the year and pick out 50 that I liked a lot for 2010’s Best Of showcase. These are photos that when I see them I smile or laugh or just feel good about the work that was done. There are many more than 50 but I had to choose. Enjoy. You will need Javascripting on and the latest Flash plug-in for your browser in order to view this collection.

It has been a long while since I updated so here is the short of it all. I am still unemployed but I feel a bit better as I look to the future. I think I will have a job in the next 3 months and get my life back together. Regardless of that, the good news is I am going to be hitting up A-Kon 22 in Dallas and I will have new camera gear for the first time in 5 years. I’ll be shooting with the Canon 7D! <3 This camera is stupid fly awesome and I can’t wait to get some shots in with this bad boy.

I believe I will be heading for to MechaCon for another round of hot sweltering shenanigans in the big easy. I have also been asked to be one of the head honcho photographers at a new con in 2012 called UltimaCon. I didn’t get to do AnimeFest, my favorite convention of all time, last year but this year I am going! Because I will be employed and I will be ready to return to the work I love so much there, Cosplay Photography.

As for current photos. I am about a day away from being done with all MechaCon and all 2010 photos then I can start on Ikkicon stuff I did at the beginning of this new year. Keep your eyes posted for more details. And while you wait… a song that really lifts my spirit up and makes me thing the world will be better. Enjoy!
