My 300 gig Maxtor external HDD that I use to store all my photo images and my music collection died on me a month ago and I thought I had lost everything. Two days ago on a whim I turned it back on and was surprised to see it fire up and start working again. I quickly saved two super important folders to my main internal drives and prepped the drives to receive more refugees from the external. But before I could do so it failed again with a “Delayed Write Error” message. That was a new one for me. I sighed and resigned myself to the fate of over 30 gigs of images and 20 gigs of MP3z lost… but to my delight the drive started working again last night. After a few hours of moving files I was able to save most of my stuff. I reformatted the drive this morning and it reported no problems with the platter inside. I don’t know what is wrong with it… maybe the USB cable is going bad and the drive is fine? Needless to say… I need a new drive or cable. Looks like it’s time to go shopping! Happy Friday!
